We Eloped.. Secretly!
We eloped secretly, and it was the best decision that we feel that we have made for ourselves. Alexa and I had talks about getting married but never really set a date, and one day in May, a couple days before we even got married, she was just like hey, wanna get married on our next day off? I didn't even question it. My heart just raced, and I knew that YES, I wanted to spend the rest of my days with her. Loving her, being there for her, working as a team and supporting her.. there was no question about it because when you know, you just know!
It has already been a month and sometimes, it feels like just YESTERDAY!
It is crazy how fast time flies by, so fast that when you look back it kinda hits you in the feels.
I didn't do a lot of blogging leading up to the wedding date and there's a couple of reasons why.
1. We wanted our PRIVACY. The last year I have realized that you don't have to post everything on social media. Especially in the last week, I found that to be even more true. I am living my life for me, not for the validation of others, not for the likes, not for the clout, or the perfectionist vibe that i feel like you have to have these days surrounding social media. I am not perfect, and I just didn't want everyone to know. I wanted us to make this decision together and do what was best for us.
2. Intimacy - I wanted this to be a day that Alexa and I shared together, with each other and not focused on anything else but showing each other how much we love each other. This day was pure love, and affection. I seriously could not have asked for anything more. Being around her makes my heart happy, it makes me feel more comfortable, at ease and with her I know i always have someone standing on my side. I have never really felt that cozy warm feeling of being "home" except for when I am with her. That sounds cheesy and cliche but seriously. Due to a rough childhood, we were always moving, nothing was ever settled down and my childhood is a story for another day, but being with her, and her choosing me, loving her sincerely is the best.
3. Stress VS. NO STRESS - it is well known that having a big wedding, can cause a big amount of stress. it also has a standard for having a lot of people, we both have anxiety and didn't want to stress about guest lists, seating charts, RSVP's or anything of that matter. I didn't want stress because I wanted to be able to enjoy the day with my soon to be wife. She got to sneak a nap in, while I got to relax and watch a TV show on the couch before we got ready for our small little ceremony. We were relaxed, (except for me RIGHT before we got married because of how excited and emotional I was) and that was what I wanted. No stress, drama, or issues.
I wanted to share some of the wedding details..

We got married at Garfield Park, in a green grass area around a bunch of tress. We both had a thing for nature but didn't really mind where we were saying our vows because what was important was being there in the moment, with each other. Our officiant recommended the park and it worked out just fine!!
We decided to get married at 6pm, on a Thursday so that we could do photos downtown and then dinner at The Mitten after with a few friends. PIZZA AND BEER ON MY WEDDING NIGHT WAS PRETTY AWESOME! There was a waitress Lindsey who gifted our table a beer flight, which was pretty awesome! Nothing fancy, just love.
I really love looking back at these pictures, we are still just as happy if not happier!
This was the best decision for us, overall. We didn't break the bank doing it this way and still had a cute, simple elopement. I would recommend eloping for the want to be stress free bride. I love that we did things DIY, on a budget and did what was best for us.
